Job Title: Networking Infrastructure Engineer 

The Networking Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the physical and logical network infrastructure of an organization. Here are typical responsibilities and skills associated with this role:

Job Description:

  1. Design and Implementation:

    • Designing network infrastructure solutions based on business requirements.
    • Implementing network configurations, routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware.
  2. Network Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Monitoring network performance and ensuring uptime and reliability.
    • Optimizing network infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.
  3. Security Management:

    • Implementing and maintaining network security –  protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems (FortiGate)
    • Conducting regular security assessments and audits.
  4. Troubleshooting and Support:

    • Resolving network-related issues and outages promptly.
    • Providing technical support and guidance to users and other IT personnel.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Documenting network configurations, processes, and procedures.
    • Generating reports on network performance and security metrics.
  6. Collaboration:

    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement network projects.
    • Managing projects related to network infrastructure upgrades and expansions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.), routing and switching technologies (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), network security concepts, and virtualization technologies.

  • Certifications: Nice to haves certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex network issues and devise effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders effectively.

  • Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving network issues.

  • Project Management: Experience in managing network infrastructure projects from planning to execution.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant 5-10 years’ experience may substitute for formal education.
